The needle opening is 9mm wide, but the stitch width will only go to 5.5 mm on models that have a CB hook system. This spring-loaded foot is designed to sit above the fabric without touching it when the presser foot is lowered, giving the user the freedom to move the fabric as the needle stitches through it.
